Mod 54 Developing Reel
Mod 54 Developing Reel
MOD54 was invented by Morgan O'Donovan an Irish photographer based in London, who specializes in shooting backstage at Fashion shows in NYC, London, Milan and Paris. Clients have included British Vogue, The International Herald Tribune, Wall Street Journal, Dazed & Confused and Self Service Magazine to name but a few.
The MOD54 is an adapter to process 6 sheets of 4x5 in. sheet film. This adaptor is designed to fit in a Paterson 3 Reel tank (model PTP116- the tank that takes 3 standard reels). Load the sheets lining up the ridges on the sheets with the ridges on the top of the MOD54. One liter of chemicals is enough to fill the tank and fully immerse the sheets. Agitate as per developer instruction, generally for the first 60 seconds then 10 seconds every minute. It's good practice to test your development time first and practice using the MOD 54. When processing less than 6 sheets its good practice to use dummy sheets to fill out all the slots. This helps regulate the flow of chemical. Place dummy sheets in the inner most slots.
